Hair Bows

Hair bows are definitely trending this season and I think they are really cute and could definitely complete outfits. I started looking around to see where I could buy them. I eventually found them but the stores wanted $5+ for one bow. I thought that was a bit much; I asked my sister Kaylyn (She has an awesome store on Etsy) how to make them with some left over fabric I had from my maxi skirts and refashioned items. It took about 2 mins to make one and it was super easy! The bows turned out great so I thought "Why not share this money saving idea?". So here it is:

First find some material that you like. You really don't need that much. Depending on the size of bow you want to make, cut out a square 3-6 inches long.

Don't worry about straight lines because the cut lines wont show in the finished product. In this example I cut out about a 3'' square because I wanted to make a smaller bow. I chose a navy blue and white material in honors of Independence day. This material was an old shirt until I made a scarf out of the lower half.

After cutting out the square take the top edge and fold it to the middle and glue it down with a hot glue dot right in the middle.

Tip: Use as little glue as possible because the glue dries hard and it will be difficult to fold later on if there is to much hardened dry glue.

Then take the bottom edge and fold that to the middle as well

Then rotate the piece of material 90* and fold the top and bottom of the edges into the middle and secure the fold with a dot of hot glue.

Take a thin strip of the same fabric and glue it around the center of the square. Pull it tight and glue it down, slide a bobby pin in the back and you've got yourself a hair-bow!

Happy 4th! Hope this made sense!
